Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Guldenbecker: Coming from a self-employed family, I was always looking for ways to strike out on my own. I always enjoyed constructing and certainly enjoyed being in control of my own fate. Our humble beginnings as a company can be traced back to when I was just 16 and went out and got a commercial lawn mower and started working. In those early years, I remember calling equipment rental companies to make sure they did not have an 18-year age requirement.
Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?
Guldenbecker: Good intentions and good work.
Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?
Guldenbecker: One of the biggest challenges of any owner/operator in any business is juggling the many hats that must be worn to go do what needs to be done. Learning to multitask as a business owner is like learning to swim.
Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Guldenbecker: It is impossible not to find fulfillment in work when you can honestly say you provided a good service. So, the favorite part of my job is that my crew and I do the best work that can be done, and our repeat customers will back that up.
Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?
Guldenbecker: We show up when we say we are going to, we know how to return phone calls, and we appreciate our customers and projects.
Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?
Guldenbecker: As a young person in business, I often found myself flooded with unsolicited advice. Speaking on this matter, Grandma Reilly once quoted her mother to me, saying, “Listen carefully to all the advice people lend, then go home and do what you think is best.”
Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about?
Guldenbecker: The short-term goal for Reilly Landscaping will be adding a mowing crew that is mostly electric. It will be a service that comes with a treasure trove of benefits including reduced noise pollution and reduced air pollution.
Patch: How can Patch readers learn more about your work and business?
