Head-On Crash Shuts Down Route 53: Crest Hill Chief
Crest Hill Police told Patch at 5 p.m. that several Illinois State Police crash reconstruction investigators were en route.

CREST HILL, IL — Route 53 between Romeoville and Joliet will remain closed in both directions on Wednesday night as police investigate a head-on crash that left three people injured. One crash victim was seriously injured and taken by a helicopter to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark told Patch that he expected Route 53 would remain shut down for several more hours on Wednesday evening. Traffic is being detoured to Caton Farm Road and also to Division Street.
Clark said the collision happened around 3 p.m. Two people were rushed by ambulance to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. The most seriously injured person was airlifted to Downers Grove, he said.
