Saw It on eBay: Engraved Silver Spoon Featuring Old Prison
This six-inch sterling silver Joliet souvenir is being sold for $42.95, although the seller is also willing to accept offers for less than that amount.
We here in Joliet may want to shy away from our prison past these days, but once it was the city's calling card -- as evidenced by this souvenir spoon being sold on eBay.
In fact, the engraving of the now-closed Joliet Correctional Center is so prominent that the seller identifies the item as a "Penitentiary Joliet Illinois Sterling Silver Souvenir Spoon." He/she is asking $42.95/best offer for its purchase.
The spoon, however, also features other engravings, including depictions of the old Will County Courthouse, Louis Joliet, the women's prison, and the downtown library and post office.
The spoon itself is six inches long, weighs a .99 Troy ounce and has "no damage" and is in "excellent" condition, according to the online description.
