Shorewood Car Shooting On Route 59, West Jefferson Street
Shorewood police are seeking your help in trying to solve a shooting that happened Saturday near a busy intersection.

SHOREWOOD, IL — Shorewood police are looking for the gunman who fired several bullets into a Dodge sports utility vehicle along southbound Route 59. Saturday's mid-morning gunfire continued on Route 52. Nobody was injured, Shorewood Deputy Police Chief Jason Barten said.
The gunman drove a white Chevy Malibu and was last seen speeding west along Route 52, which is West Jefferson Street. Shorewood police described the gunman as a young black man in his early-to-mid 20s with short-length dreadlocks. He had a small black semi-automatic gun, police said.
Around 10:30 a.m., the white Dodge SUV and the Chevrolet Malibu were driving south along Route 59 through Shorewood. As the two drives approached the intersection at Route 52, the SUV was stopped in the outside lane of Route 59, police reports show.

"The Chevrolet passed all southbound traffic in the center median of Route 59 as the driver fired several shots from the inside of the vehicle towards the Dodge striking the Dodge several times," the Shorewood Police Department announced.
Next, the gunman driving the Chevrolet Malibu "maneuvered his vehicle from the center median into oncoming northbound Route 59 traffic before pursuing the Dodge on westbound Route 52 where one additional shot was fired," police reports show.

Barten told Patch "there was no road rage." He said the victim in the case was cooperative.
"We had cooperation but it's undermined if there's any relationship or previous relationship between the (people) in the two cars," he said.
Barten told Patch that police do not have any information about the gunman's license plates, yet.
