Dan and Emily: Standard Provision has been in business since 1959 and operated by the Barry family for over 10 years.
Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in?
Dan and Emily: We were attracted to this business due to its appeal to such a large percentage of the population. We have a passion for our products and love to service our customers. We can appreciate that everyone enjoys putting quality food on the table for family and friends, and we enjoy being a part of that experience.
Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in about five words, what would those words be?
Dan and Emily: Quality meat delivered to your home.
Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?
Dan and Emily: Recently, the incredible surge in meat prices has been very challenging. We worked hard with our vendors to ensure that the impact on our customers was as small as possible. We are proud to be able to offer a solution to people who want or need quality meats delivered contact-free directly to their home, often at prices that are less than the grocery store.
Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Dan and Emily: The interaction with our customers is by far the most satisfying and rewarding part of our job and what we look forward to.

Patch: How would you say your business distinguishes itself from the others?
Dan and Emily: Standard Provision is family-run, and we are very focused on customer service! We work early hours, starting at 5 a.m. to make our fresh product and get our refrigerated vehicles on the road. When we are out of the office, our customers know they still can reach us if they need us. We are dedicated and don't view this as a 9-5 type of job.
Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?
Dan and Emily: Love what you do, and you will find a way to be successful.
Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited
about?
Dan and Emily: We recently added a contact-free Home Delivery Division, and we now provide the same restaurant-quality meats in smaller packages to homes in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will counties just by placing your order on our website.
Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community?
Dan and Emily: We have our second fundraising event with the MOPS group at St. John the Baptist Church in Winfield on Friday, June 26. You can place your order on our website and pick up at the church between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. We customize and offer a percentage of the proceeds to each fundraising event.
