State Police Nab 3 DUIs, Dozens of Speeders in Joliet Patrols
District 5 troopers conducted three separate campaigns/checks over the Thanksgiving weekend and in the days leading up to it.

Illinois State Police District 5 arrested three suspected drunk drivers and wrote 115 tickets over the course of three Joliet enforcement checks conducted before and over the Thanksgiving weekend.
The first, an "alcohol countermeasure enforcement patrol, was conducted Nov. 27 in Joliet on Nov. 27. It netted one DUI arrest, one drug/alcohol-related arrest and two people were found to be driving with suspended licenses, according to a news release.
There were also 17 speeding tickets issued and three for people not wearing seat belts. Fifteen people received written warnings for violations.
On Nov. 29, the district conducted an enforcement campaign on Interstate 80 between U.S. 30 and Houbolt Road. Thirty-three tickets and 15 written warnings were issued for speeding and one person was cited for a seat-belt violation.
A roadside safety check was set up overnight Nov. 30/Dec. 1 on Illinois 171 at Woodruff Street in Joliet. The breakdown was: two arrests for DUI, 10 arrests for drug/alcohol-related violations, two registration offenses, 13 driver's license offenses, three seat-belt offenses and two written warnings.
