More snow is coming, and winds could be as high as 50 mph. Motorists who don't have to drive are encouraged to stay home.

Illinois State Police District 5 has issued a travel advisory for our area through 6 a.m. Monday because of the "blizzard-like" conditions expected to occur starting at about 6 p.m.

Here is what they had to say:

A winter storm warning has been issued in the counties of Will, Kendall, and Grundy. This warning became effective today, January 26, at 3:17 p.m. An additional one to two inches of snow is expected to fall with winds increasing to 25 – 30 MPH, gusting up to 50 MPH. Conditions are expected to rapidly deteriorate beginning at approximately 6:00 p.m., with blizzard-like conditions possible as a result of blowing snow.  All motorists are being urged to remain at home. Illinois State Police District 05 – Joliet is strongly advising against non-essential travel.

According to the latest National Weather Service forecast for our area, blowing wind will usher in extremely cold temperatures. Monday's high is predicted to be 2 below and the low is expected to be 21 below. More of the same will follow Tuesday, when the high will be about 0 and the low 10 below.
