Sylvester Smith Jr.

Age 61, of Decatur, departed this life Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Born February 25, 1952, in Joliet to Sylvester Smith Sr. and Julia Mae (Perryman) Smith.

He was employed with Diamond Star and a member of New Vision Church of God in Decatur. Sylvester was also a U.S. Army Veteran.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Teresa; son Richard Myers; daughters Nevia Woods, Patrice (Billy) Myers, DeAndra (Tierney) Ransom and Sylesa Smith; sisters Dorothy (McKinley) Williams, Della (Charles) Travis, Climmieteen (Roy) Paige and Earnestine Belton; 10 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 24, 2013, from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home and 5-6 p.m. at Christ Temple Apostolic Church, 212 Richards St., Joliet, IL. Service at 6 p.m. Bishop J.E. Moore officiating. Interment will be held Monday, November 25, 2013, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
