Truck On I-80 Catches Fire Near Joliet's Briggs Street
Illinois State Police arrived around 3:20 p.m. Friday. The fire caused major traffic congestion for motorists near New Lenox and Joliet.

JOLIET, IL — Illinois State Police said that Friday's traffic snarl was caused by a truck tractor that caught fire around 3:20 p.m. near the Interstate 80 exit for Briggs Street in Joliet. The truck's fuel tank caught on fire for unknown reasons, police said.
The fire caused great damage to the truck, though nobody was hurt, Illinois State Police said.
From 3:50 p.m. to 4:40 p.m., all lanes of I-80 eastbound traffic near milepost 134 were shut down for the police investigation while the fire was being put out.
