Unconscious Man, 45, Near St. Joe's Turns Violent: Joliet PD

JOLIET ? Paramedics of the Joliet Fire Department and the Joliet Police Department were attacked on Wednesday by 45-year-old Joliet resident Marc Phillips when authorities were sent to St. Joe's hospital after Phillips was discovered on the ground in the parking lot, Joliet police arrest reports show.
Phillips was arrested and released on a notice to appear in court on charges of aggravated battery to a peace officer and aggravated assault.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said at 4:41 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of St. Joseph Medical Center for a report of a person down. Upon arrival, the officers found Phillips lying on the ground in the parking, and he appeared to be unconscious, police said.

Officers managed to wake Phillips and an ambulance was called. English said Phillips became agitated with the officers, but he entered the ambulance under his own power.
In the ambulance, Phillips tried to punch and kick the Joliet Fire Department's paramedics, according to police.

Phillips was restrained and taken into the hospital via ambulance.
Once inside the hospital, as an officer removed handcuffs on Phillips so that he could be medically evaluated, English said Phillips punched the officer in the groin.
Phillips was then placed into custody without further incident. Phillips was released on a notice to appear at the hospital, English said.
The Will County Jail logs from September listed Phillips as residing at the Daybreak Shelter on East Cass Street.
