Volunteers Place Wreaths Across Lincoln National Cemetery

A wreath-laying ceremony was conducted before volunteers placed wreaths at many of the 6,000 graves at the cemetery just south of Joliet.

Hundreds of people and volunteers gathered Saturday to attend a wreath-laying ceremony at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery organized by Wreaths Across America.

Here are some photos taken that day of the ceremony and the work involved in placing wreaths on many of the 6,000 graves. The stark view is quite moving, especially on a snowy and grey day.

The cemetery is located on Route 53 in Elwood, just south of Joliet.
