JOLIET, IL — A new Will County civil forfeiture complaint outlines the motive and events surrounding the Oct. 20 shooting of a 23-year-old Joliet man who was left critically injured outside his house in the 1000 block of East Washington Street.

Joliet police quickly determined the shooters were brothers, Eduardo "Eddie" Flores, 23, and Luis Flores, 24, who reside in the 100 block of Akin Avenue, court documents reveal.

Now, the Office of Will County State's Attorney Jim Glasgow wants a judge to declare the GMC Yukon 1998 model belonging to Luis Flores as a forfeited asset for the police to keep.

Officers asked the shooting victim if he knew the identity of his shooters "and he related that Eddie, later identified as Eduardo Flores, and Luis Flores shot him," the complaint reads.

At Silver Cross, Joliet police learned that the shooting victim was in critical condition with an entry exit wound to his right bicep that penetrated his right torso and remained in his left oblique area, court documents show.

Joliet officer Juan Acosta asked the shooting victim who shot him and "he related Luis and Eddie Flores ... were shooting at him. Officer Acosta asked (the victim) why they would be shooting at him and he related that he and Eddie had been arguing over Facebook. (The victim) further related that he owed Eddie money and that Eddie was talking crazy, asking for the money and saying he was going to pull up to his house and take his rims," court documents state.

The victim told police that Eddie Flores did show up at his house on Washington Street, an argument ensued, and that Eddie went back to his house and returned with his brother, Luis, in a tan SUV and "both Eddie and Luis began to shoot at him," the forfeiture states.

When the Flores brothers pulled up to the curb near the victim's house, Eddie Flores opened his car door and held a black handgun with an extended magazine, court records state.

"What are you going to shoot me?" the victim asked and that's when Eddie Flores fired multiple rounds and Luis Flores also shot at him from inside the Flores' vehicle, the complaint reads.

"When (the victim) was initially being shot at, he ran and ducked by a car and he felt he was hit during the initial sequence of shots," Joliet police reported.

A Joliet police SWAT team found the suspect's gold GMC Yukon back at their house in the 100 block of Akin Avenue and Eddie Flores' girlfriend let Joliet police on the property to tow away the vehicle, court records show.

Joliet police found several shell casings on the rear passenger seat and at least one shell casing on the driver's side floorboard, court records indicate.

Later that same night, Eddie Flores was arrested by Joliet police on charges including attempted murder. On Nov. 2, Luis Flores was arrested on charges including aggravated discharge of a gun and unlawful use of a weapon.

Bail for Luis Flores, 24, remains $400,000 and the bail for Eddie Flores, 23, remains $750,000. The pair remain in the Will County Jail as of Dec. 14.

The forfeiture complaint reveals that the 1998 GMC Yukon "transported Eduardo Flores and Luis Flores as well as the firearms used, to and from the location of the reckless discharges and aggravated battery."
