Angry Woman Repeatedly Rams Boyfriend's Car, Injures 3, Police Say

It's not known what provoked Renee Tyler to deliberately drive into the victim's vehicle, Joliet police said.

A Joliet woman who was so angry with her boyfriend that she chased his car and repeatedly rammed it with her own vehicle was arrested Thursday afternoon, Joliet Police Chief Brian Benton said.

Police, responding to a 4:30 p.m. call about a red Cadillac being deliberately driven into another car, arrived at the intersection of Washington and Henderson to find Renee M. Tyler, 38, already being held by a Will County sheriff's deputy who had been flagged down at the scene, Benton said.

Tyler reportedly had been following and repeatedly ramming the vehicle in which her boyfriend and several other people were driving, he said.

At least three people in the boyfriend's vehicle were hurt and taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox for treatment of minor injuries, Benton said.

It's not known what provoked Tyler's attack, he said.

Tyler, of 304 Des Plaines St., was charged with aggravated battery, reckless conduct and felony criminal damage to property. She is being held in the Will County jail pending a bond hearing.
