Woman Tries To Shoot Man On Earl Avenue, Arrest Made: JPD
Joliet police say 27-year-old Sharnesia Cooley fired a gun at a man at her property on Monday afternoon.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police arrested 27-year-old resident Sharnesia Cooley after police say she fired a gun at a man on Tuesday afternoon in the unit block of Earl Avenue. The man who was the intended target of Cooley's gunshots was not struck, but a vehicle parked in the west side neighborhood was hit by a bullet, police said.
Later in the afternoon, Cooley was booked into the Will County Jail on charges of aggravated discharge of a gun, unlawful use of a weapon and criminal damage to property.
Joliet police say the shooting happened around 1:25 p.m. Earl Avenue is between Reedwood Drive and Midland Avenue.

"Officers determined that Cooley had fired a handgun at an adult male victim, missing him,": Joliet Police Sgt. Dwayne English said in Wednesday's news release.
After firing the gun, Cooley got into a car and drove off, police said.

"Further investigation revealed that a nearby unoccupied vehicle was struck by the round Cooley had fired," Joliet police said. "Officers checking the area conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle and placed Cooley into custody without incident. Officers were unable to locate the weapon that was used."
Cooley lives in the unit block of Earl Avenue where the shooting occurred, jail records show. She was booked into the Will County Jail around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
