Arbor Lane Resident Tries Escaping After Gun Arrest: Cops
Joliet police say they arrested the 23-year-old Crest Hill man Wednesday evening after finding a stolen gun under his driver's seat.

JOLIET, IL — A 23-year-old convicted felon from Crest Hill in handcuffs tried running from the Joliet Police Station parking lot Wednesday night following his arrest several minutes earlier on charges of having a stolen gun in his car, according to police.
After trying to run from his arresting officers, David Woods was quickly captured, according to police. By 8:05 p.m., Woods was booked into Will County's Jail, just a few blocks away, on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a stolen gun, unlawful possession of ammunition, having no FOID, aggravated resisting a peace officer, escape and several traffic citations.
The incident that led to Woods' arrest occurred at 5:55 p.m. in the 800 block of West Jefferson Street, police reports indicate.

During a traffic stop, Joliet police smelled marijuana inside Woods' car, reports show. When Joliet police searched his car, a handgun was found under the driver's seat, police said.
At that time, Woods was arrested without any problems, police said, and officers learned the gun was stolen from another city.

"While Woods was being removed from the squad car at the Joliet Police Department, he ran from officers while still handcuffed, but was immediately captured and brought into the Joliet Police Department where he was booked and later transported to the Will County Jail," police reports state.
The Crest Hill resident lives in the 1800 block of the Arbor Lane apartment units, jail records show.
