Adventist La Grange Named a 'Top Performer' by Joint Commission

Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital has been named a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures by the Joint Commission.

The hospital was recognized for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes shown to improve care for certain conditions. Specifically, Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital was recognized for its heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care.

“This designation by The Joint Commission recognizes the quality work done by our staff on a daily basis,” said Lary Davis, chief executive officer at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital. “We understand how important safe and effective care is to our patients, and that is why we are committed to positive outcomes through evidence-based care.”

The hospital is one of 1,099 hospitals in the country earning this distinction for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance.

“Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital, and all the Top Performer hospitals, has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to quality improvement and it should be proud of its achievement,” said Mark R. Chassin, president and chief executive officer for The Joint Commission.

As part of this designation, the hospital will be recognized on The Joint Commission’s Quality Check website and be featured in the December issues of “The Joint Commission Perspectives” and “The Source.”

The list of Top Performer organizations increased by 77 percent from last year, and it represents 33 percent of all Joint Commission-accredited hospitals reporting accountability measure performance data for 2012. Nearly half of all hospitals accredited through The Joint Commission have attained or nearly attained Top Performer distinction.

The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies more than 20,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.
