Another Drop In Virus Rate In La Grange: County
The number of coronavirus deaths in La Grange has remained the same since mid-February.
LA GRANGE, IL — For the second week in a row, La Grange saw a drop in the percentage increase in coronavirus cases, according to the Cook County Health Department.
As of Sunday, La Grange, including La Grange Highlands, had seen 2,132 coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 34 from a week before, or a 1.6 percent increase. That was slightly down from the previous week's 2 percent hike.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, the local number of recorded coronavirus-related deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 31. The latest death was Feb 13. All the local deaths have been those who were 61 or older, according to the medical examiner.

The mortality rate among La Grange cases is 1.5 percent. About a tenth of 1 percent of the local population has died from the virus.

As of Sunday, La Grange, including La Grange Highlands, had 111.6 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning, the worst among its surveyed neighbors. The figure compares to 77.8 in Darien, 80.7 in La Grange Park, 87.4 in DuPage County, 88.1 in Western Springs, 88.4 in Hinsdale, 90.4 in Elmhurst, 95.7 in Clarendon Hills, 96.3 in suburban Cook County and 100.8 in Burr Ridge.

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,321,033, up 1.7 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 21,826 state residents.
Nationally, 31.8 million people have caught the virus, up 1.3 percent from the week before. A total of 568,237 people have died from the virus in the United States.
