Bike Thefts, $1,400 Chair Taken: La Grange Cops

Two of the three bicycles were locked when they were taken, reports say.

LA GRANGE, IL – La Grange police released their latest blotter Friday. Here is information from the reports:

Bicycle thefts

  • A child’s black Diamondback bicycle, which had been locked, was stolen June 13 from the bike rack outside La Grange Public Library, 10 W. Cossitt Ave. The bike is valued at $200.
  • A Marin Fairfax bicycle was stolen between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. June 14 at the Stone Avenue train station in the 700 block of West Burlington Avenue. The bike is valued at $700.
  • A Specialized Pitch mountain bicycle, which had been locked, was stolen Thursday from a bike rack near La Grange Road and Burlington Avenue. The bike is valued at $600.

Storage unit theft

  • A chair valued at $1,400 was stolen from a storage unit at 112 E. Burlington Ave. The theft was reported Thursday.

Scam call

  • A resident in the 1000 block of South Ashland Avenue told police about receiving a call June 11 from someone claiming to be from the Social Security Administration and asking for identifiable information.
