Four Girls Look to Lemonade to Raise Funds for Shelter Dogs

Clare, Julia and Katherine Amonson, and their friend Mia Bonfiglio, used lemonade to help raise funds for shelter dogs at The Barker Shop in La Grange.

After a recent trip to The Barker Shop—a dog grooming, pet photography studio and shelter located at 1404 W. 55th St. in La Grange—three sisters and their friend decided they needed to do something to help the rescue dogs they saw there.

Working together, they decided to start up a lemonade stand in the Amonson driveway to raise funds.

Patch caught up with these young volunteers, and this is what they had to say:

Clare: We went to buy dog food at and we visited the rescue dogs.

Julia: We set up the stand in our driveway.

Patch: How much money were you able to raise?

Katherine: We raised $32.75 for the shelter at The Barker Shop. We picked the shelter at The Barker Shop because that is where we got our dog, Lila, in May. Lila is a 4 year old pug.

Patch: Do you have any tips for other kids who want to help raise money for animal shelters?

Katherine: You should find a job that could be fun and raise money, like watering plants or helping your neighbors.

Patch: Are you guys big fans of The Barker Shop?

Mia: The Barker Shop has lots of great animals. If you're looking for a pet, I think The Barker Shop might have one for you!

Patch: Thanks, girls! Great work.
