Just 1 New Virus Case In La Grange: County
The number of virus-related deaths remained the same in the last week.
LA GRANGE, IL — In the last week, La Grange saw just one new case of the coronavirus, according to the Cook County Public Health Department.
As of Sunday, La Grange, including La Grange Highlands, had seen 2,310 coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, the local number of recorded coronavirus-related deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 34. The four latest deaths were May 24, May 22, May 14 and Feb. 13. All the local deaths have been those who were 61 or older, according to the medical examiner.

The mortality rate among La Grange cases is 1.5 percent. About a tenth of 1 percent of the local population has died from the virus.

As of Sunday, La Grange, including unincorporated La Grange Highlands, had 120.8 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning, the worst among its surveyed neighbors. The figure compares to 81.7 in Darien, 88.2 in La Grange Park, 91.7 in DuPage County, 93.6 in Hinsdale, 94.3 in Elmhurst, 98.9 in Western Springs, 100 in Clarendon Hills, 102.1 in suburban Cook County and 104.4 in Burr Ridge.

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,388,688, up 0.1 percent from a week earlier, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 23,133.
Nationally, 33.3 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, up 0.2 percent from the week before, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 598,713 people have died from the virus in the United States.
