Local Experts, Resources Showcase at 2014 Family Wellness Expo

Learn how to live well, live healthy and live better Oct. 4 at this special event with FREE activities and fun for all ages in La Grange.

For the first time, the La Grange Business Association will showcase an array of local health and wellness resources under one roof during the 2014 Family Wellness Expo on Saturday, October 4 from 10am – 2pm at La Grange Village Hall, 53 S. La Grange Road.


Participants will have the opportunity to gain expert advice from practitioners in pet therapy, fitness, massage, nutrition, chiropractic, acupuncture, training, alternative medicine and green lifestyles, along with legal and financial experts. Small-group seminars like: Advocating for the Elderly - Finding the Essential Resources Makes Life Better by Jennifer Prell of Elderwerks;, Too Busy to Exercise; Raising Healthy Families and others will provide ideas and tools for motivation.


The event will feature fitness demonstrations and drop-in classes like Zumba, yoga, salsa and mobility with foam rollers. Activities for kids include the opportunity to meet the Pet Partner Therapy Dogs and a scavenger hunt. The first 250 visitors will receive a free goodie bag.

A grand prize drawing will be held for an overnight stay at the William Tell Holiday Inn with a gift basket provided by BrightStar Care of Berwyn.


The main sponsors of the event are Suburban Life FIT magazine, The Wellness Path, BrightStar Care of Berwyn and Wilson & Wilson, along with the Village of La Grange.

Experts estimate that if Americans don’t change their eating and exercise habits, every third child in the United States will have Type 2 diabetes by the time he or she is 20 years old.


“The purpose of this expo is to educate, inspire and motivate families to live healthy and positive lives,” said Steve Jasinski, LGBA board president. “We want to help our community by raising the awareness of how many resources and opportunities are available in and around La Grange that encourage healthy living.”
