LTHS Business Students Qualify For Nationals

Congratulations are in order for members of the Lyons Township High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) Club. Students recently competed in statewide contests, and one team and six individuals qualified to compete at the national level in one dozen different categories.

There were three multiple winners – senior Daniel Kiely, of Western Springs, senior Mira Dedhia, of Western Springs, and junior Yoonho Cho of Western Spring, who will compete in multiple categories at the national level. In addition to head-to-head events, there were Open categories which entailed tests where members had to reach a certain score to advance to nationals. Four LT team members qualified in six different Open categories.

The BPA national competitions will be held this May. The students are led and coached by teachers Jennifer Walker and Tom Sloan.

Business Professionals of America is a national organization for high school and college students preparing for careers in business and office administration. The organization’s activities and program complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of skills learned at school. BPA contributes to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills.

Yoonho Cho, Junior (Western Springs) - Fundamental Word Processing 2nd place and Qualified in Medical Terminology Concepts

Mira Dedhia, Senior (Western Springs) - Payroll Accounting 4th place
