New Vintage Closes, but Owner Says Thanks to Many For Support
Arlene Kallien, owner of New Vintage Coffee, was recently profiled on La Grange Patch about her struggling business. Unfortunately, New Vintage closed earlier this month, but Kallien had this to say about the community that gave her support.

To all of my loyal customers here at , it is with a very heavy heart that I tell you I have to close my doors.
We have fought very hard these past nine months to create a place where people can come relax, put their feet up and enjoy a superior beverage in a place that is welcoming and feels like home.
I feel so very lucky to have had the opportunity to get to know so many wonderful people; from customers, to employees, to fellow business owners, the support that everyone has given to me has been phenomenal. I am so very sad as I sit here and write this letter, but feel so very blessed with the new friends I have made.

I need to make special mention to a few people:
Nancy Cummings from the [] started the whole ball rolling with the “save New Vintage” effort, not to mention her wonderful intern, Alex Onion. The two of them rallied the troops and things were very hopeful for a while.

I am eternally grateful to Jayne Aspan, owner of the ; Jean Kuhn, owner of the , who organized the cash mob; Maria [Marciniec], owner of ; and Karen Gula, owner of . Talk about amazing women! They reached out to me in my time of need and offered their hand in friendship. They gave me invaluable business advice and a camaraderie I will not soon forget. You guys rock!
These women are only a tiny fraction of the people who have supported me. There are many, many more.
The most gratifying part of owning New Vintage was getting to know all of my customers by name. I truly loved seeing everyone walk through the door, greeting them by name and knowing, before they could say anything, what they would order.
There are so many, it would take literally pages to list them all. I truly love you all!
My employees are the best, period. I have never laughed so hard as when I am working at New Vintage. It was a dream job. It felt more like a family than work. Thank you for coming on board and trusting in me. This is the most difficult for me; knowing I let you down.
The good news is, I am never one to be kept down for long. I am a fighter. I will reinvent myself. You will certainly see me again and I hope, from the bottom of my heart, that I see you.
Ever grateful to all of you,
Arlene Kallien
