Petition Demands LTHS Take Action Against Boys
The online document has collected more than 5,000 signatures.
LA GRANGE, IL — The organizers of an online petition are asking Lyons Township High School to hold boys to account for social media messages that they say denigrate girls.
In two days, more than 5,000 people have signed the Change.org petition titled, "Accountability for certain LTHS boys."
The organizers are objecting to comments on a student-run Instagram account. The petition says the messages include "I'll drag your boobs across my face while (you're) kicking and screaming."

"It is high time that LT administration listen to the complaints of women in this grade," the petition says. "We deserve so much more respect than this. We deserve the bare minimum: to not be verbally and physically hurt."
The petition said it is the school's job to condemn the bullies. The administration's lack of response, it said, is "disgusting and dehumanizing."

The petition also asks the administration to take action against those who make comments that condone assault.
The petition lists the name of six officials, including Superintendent Tim Kilrea, who leaves June 30.
School officials couldn't be reached for comment Friday.
