Broken window on Cossitt School

Someone broke a first-floor windowpane on the Ashland Avenue side of Cossitt School, La Grange police said. A screen was ripped on the south side of the building, police said. The window will cost about $20 to replace.

Damaged lights

Someone damaged two decorative outdoor lights at a home in the 400 block of South Park Avenue, police said. The incident happened sometime over the past two weeks. It will cost a minimal amount of money to fix, police said.

Collection notice directs caller to sex line

A woman at the Dance Center of La Grange received a letter from someone who claimed to be with Office Depot stating they were collecting on her account, police said. The woman did not have an account with Office Depot and when officers called the number on the letter, it went to a sex line. The woman did not send any money and suffered no monetary loss.

Hit-and-run outside Salon Hype

Someone struck a car parked in front of Salon Hype, 917 W. Hillgrove Ave., around 5:29 p.m. and drove away, police said. There were no witnesses to the incident.

Cat killed by car

A cat was struck by a car around 6:03 p.m. in the 00 block of South Kensington, police said. Officers helped bury the cat, which was dead when they arrived.

Dog bites kid

A dog bit a child in a home in the 800 block of East Avenue around 6:46 p.m., police said. The caller declined medical treatment for the child.

Porta potty dumped in backyard

A porta potty was tipped over at a home in the 400 block of South Catherine Avenue, police said. Lawn ornaments from another home were found scattered in the street in the 200 block of South Catherine, police said.

Pit bull bites man on wrist

A pit bull attacked a man in the 1000 block of South La Grange Road around 9:42 a.m., police said. The dog left a puncture wound on the man’s wrist, police said. Officers confirmed the dog was up to date with its rabies vaccinations. The victim declined medical treatment. No charges were filed.

Check-cashing funny business

Someone trying to make a purchase over email wanted to write the check for 10 times the item’s value and have a La Grange man cash the check and send him the remainder of the money, police said. The La Grange man, of the 00 block of West Harris, declined to cash the check and notified police.

Suspended or revoked license

Maria Gonzalez, 52, was arrested around 12:04 p.m. in the 200 block of Blackstone Avenue, police said. She was charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Mom calls police to lecture 4-year-old

A woman asked officers to talk to her 4-year-old son about why he needs to wear his seatbelt, police said. Officers obliged.

Man jumps into traffic

A homeless man was jumping into traffic around 1:40 p.m. near the intersection of East and Ogden avenues while holding a bottle and screaming, police said. The incident was entered as a matter of record.
