Riverside Police Cracking Down on Seatbelt, Speeding Violations Thanksgiving Weekend

During the Thanksgiving holiday weekend in 2014, 341 passenger vehicle occupants were killed in traffic crashes.

RIVERSIDE, IL — Thanksgiving weekend, millions will hit the roads, eager to spend time with family and friends. It’s one of the busiest travel times of the year, and unfortunately more people on the roadways means the potential for more vehicle crashes.

During the Thanksgiving holiday weekend in 2014, 341 passenger vehicle occupants were killed in traffic crashes across the nation. Tragically, 50 percent of those killed were not buckled up at the time of the fatal crash.

The Riverside Police Department will be conducting extra saturation patrols as well as seat belt enforcement zones from Nov. 14 until Nov. 28, with an emphasis on speeding violations, seatbelt violations and also removing impaired motorists from the roadway.
