Riverside Train Station Hosts Chocolate Twist Pop-Up Shop

...because you needed another reason to eat sweets this time of year.

The Riverside Train Station just got a whole lot more exciting.

Chocolate Twist, a sweets shop that contains just about as much chocolate as you could dream up, opened a pop-up shop at the station earlier this week.

Hours are 6:30-9:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays. The shop is closed on Sundays.

The shop is the brainchild of Chocolate Twist owner and founder Kate Coffey, who grew up admiring her grandma’s food before starting a culinary career of her own, the Chocolate Twist website states.

Coffey states on her website that she doesn’t try to make her candy “pretentious and overbearing.”

“Kate’s culinary philosophy is simple,” the site reads. “Make tasty food. Make it approachable. Make it fun.”

Need any more convincing? Listen to the names of some of Coffey’s decadent treats that are being sold this winter:

  • Vanilla bean caramels ($12)
  • Bailey’s candy cane chocolate bar ($7)
  • Beet black pepper caramels ($12)
  • Cardamom lemon white chocolate bar ($7)
  • Coffee cinnamon caramels ($12)
  • Gingerbread orange chocolate bar ($7)

The shop also provides catering services and on-the-go hot cocoa bars.

Cyndi Robinson, who works for the Illinois Library Association, wrote a testimonial on Chocolate Twist’s website.

“If there’s one thing librarians might just love more than books, it’s chocolate,” she wrote. “Chocolate Twist is the perfect way to say thank you to our hard-working members and guests.”
