McCOOK, IL — An airline food and equipment distributor in McCook unveiled a new rooftop solar energy system that company officials say is among the largest of its kind in the Chicagoland region. Elected officials were on hand Wednesday at the Michael Lewis Company to mark the unveiling of the 1.7-megawatt rooftop solar energy installation that will power the company's global headquarters in McCook.

The photovoltaic solar array will produce more than 2.5 million kilowatts of electricity in its first year, displacing the annual emissions of 415 cars or 210 homes, according to a news release. Continental Electrical Construction Co. worked with laborers from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 134 to install the project.
