Nearly 1,600 physical education students will participate in the race.

Submitted by Lyons Township High School.

The Physical Welfare Department is hosting a two-day Adventure Race at North Campus, November 21-22, each period of the day. The race is a series of obstacles that requires endurance and teamwork. Nearly 1,600 physical education students will participate in the race.

The students are encouraged to form teams of four and to work in pairs to complete the obstacles, with the other pair keeping time and score. Their final team time will be based on all four teammates crossing the finish line.

Participants will need to complete about one dozen events, including tire flips, a scooter relay, rope swings, a (dry) kayak relay, ladder run, a hula hoop relay and more.

The objective of the small scale adventure race was to have fun while utilizing teamwork skills and finishing this physical and cardio/strength event. PE teacher Kevin Diete said, "The entire LT PE Department has collaborated to create this race in effort to benefit our students. The race is a great way to prove that physical fitness can be fun. It’s important to remind students that there are lots of ways to stay active and healthy. Working with a partner and as part of a team teaches valuable skills and learning."
