Teens Pull Out Stop Signs, Tree Placed on Porch: Police Blotter

Wednesday, June 26
Credit Card Stolen
A woman from the 500 block of South 9th Avenue said her credit card was stolen and used to make $82 in online purchases, police said.
Stop Signs Pulled Out of Ground
A stop sign was pulled out of the ground at the intersection of 48th and Waiola and thrown into a tree, police said. Another sign was pulled out of the ground at Madison and Cossitt. The Department of Public Works was directed to restore the signs. The day before, a woman reported two teenage boys trying to knock over a stop sign in the 0-99 block of West Cossitt around 9:33 p.m. Another caller reported two boys in gray shirts knocking over a stop sign at Spring and Elm around 9:45 p.m., police said. Police were unable to find the boys.

Hit and Run
An elderly driver in a new model black Honda Odyssey struck a car near La Grange and Cossitt around 12:39 p.m., police said. Police were unable to find either the offending driver or the car he or she reportedly hit.
Tree on Porch
Someone dug a tree out of the parkway in front of a home the 300 block of South 6th Avenue and put it on the resident’s porch, police said. The tree wasn’t damaged and will be replanted.

Tuesday, June 25
Bike Stolen
A woman’s black Trek bike, worth about $350, was stolen from the Stone Avenue Train Station, police said. The thief cut the bike’s lock.
Hit and Run
A car was hit while parked in front of a house in the 1000 block of South 7th Avenue, police said.
Monday, June 24
(Illegal) Fireworks Mark Blackhawks Win
Fierworks were set off around 10:49 p.m. in the 600 block of South 7th Avenue, around 10:23 p.m in the 800 block of South Kensington and around 10 p.m. near the intersection of 41st and Drexel, police said. Officers were unable to locate the people who ignited them.
Baseball Bat Damages Car
Someone damaged a car parked in the 200 block of South Edgewood, possibly with a baseball bat, police said.
Bike Stolen
A men’s 12-speed silver mountain bike with a black rear fender was stolen sometime between June 14 and June 23 while locked at the La Grange Road Train Station, police said. The bike was worth about $500.
Graffiti on Building, Fence
An arrow was drawn on the back of a building in the 900 block of South 6th Avenue, as well as on a fence in the 1000 block of South La Grange Road, police said.
