Blair House Likely Headed for Demolition

Talks between the Blair Estate and a preservationist-minded buyer have apparently went nowhere, and the Blair House in Lake Bluff is likely headed for demolition.

Although representatives from both the Historic Preservation Commission of Lake Bluff and Landmarks Illinois have stated they are still holding out hope for a buyer that will preserve the 1955 structure designed by Keck & Keck, that simply hasn’t happened.

Marina Carney of Griffith, Grant & Lackie Realtors, who is listing the house, said the only interest she has seen is of those wishing to tear down the Sheridan Road structure.

“I’m going to show it today to someone who is interested in buying it and tearing it down,” Carney told the Lake Forester.
