Bulls' Nazr Mohammed Leaves Lake Forest, Moves Downtown

Mohammed offers advice to NBA players to rent, not buy in a 'Chicago Magazine' interview.

If you enjoyed seeing the 6-10 Bulls center Nazr Mohammed around town, sorry, he moved last week, according to Chicago Magazine, opting for a downtown Chicago apartment for his family of four.

In an interesting interview, Mohammed, a Chicago native, explains why he advocates that all NBA players rent — as he'd been doing in Lake Forest — instead of buy. "Our contracts in the NBA only last five years, and you need to be somewhere for around six or eight years just to break even with the property taxes and everything else," he says in the piece.

Mohammed told the Chicago Tribune earlier this year that he settled in Lake Forest with his wife and two children because of the good schools and the proximity to practice.
