Chicago Bears LB Roquan Smith Crashes Into Pole In Lake Forest
The 22-year-old linebacker avoided injury and was not ticketed after losing control of a Mercedes-Benz in icy conditions Tuesday morning.

LAKE FOREST, IL — Chicago Bears linebacker Roquan Smith was uninjured after crashing into a pole Tuesday in Lake Forest, police said.
Around 9:30 a.m., Smith was driving a white 2019 Mercedes-Benz coupe south down Field Drive to turn onto Route 60 when he when he lost control, likely due to the icy road conditions, according to Deputy Chief Rob Copeland.
Officers did not issue any citations in connection with the one-car crash, and Smith was given a ride to Halas Hall, Copeland said.

Smith, 22, was drafted by the Bears eighth overall in 2018. The Georgia native was named an alternate for the Pro Bowl and a member of the Pro Football Writers Association All-Rookie Team.
In his second NFL season, Smith mysteriously missed a Sept. 29 matchup against Minnesota for unspecified "personal reasons." He suffered a season-ending pectoral injury in the Dec. 5 game against Dallas.

Ryan Pace, Bears general manager, told reporters at a press conference Tuesday that Smith undergone surgery recently to repair a torn left pectoral muscle, according to The Chicago Tribune, which first reported the crash. An image of Smith's white coupe being towed from the scene showed heavy damage to the front passenger side.
