Christmas 2019 In Lake Forest: Special Holiday Hours, Closures

LAKE FOREST, IL — The home stretch of the holiday season has arrived, with the final week of 2019 beginning with Christmas Eve on Tuesday. Communities across the North Shore are putting the final touches on preparations for the Christmas and New Year's holidays. Last-minute shoppers are out picking up presents and ingredients for holiday meals, travelers are taking to the roads and the sky as they head out to meet family and friends for the festive period, while most students are enjoying their winter break through the start of 2020.
First responders and employees at some businesses will be working on Christmas and New Year's, but most area business will be closed to give workers a chance to gather to share the holiday with loved ones.

Post office: Closed
Federal offices: Closed

Banks: Closed
Gas stations: Open
Refuse Collection: There will be no change to refuse, recycling or yard waste pickups for the Christmas Day or New Year holidays in Lake Forest. All scheduled Wednesday collections in Lake Bluff will be delayed until Thursday Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.
Lake Forest City Hall, Lake Bluff Village Hall: Non-emergency city and village offices will be closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1 for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
Public Libraries: Both the Lake Bluff and Lake Forest libraries are closed Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. On Dec. 31, the Lake Forest Library will be open until 5 p.m. and the Lake Bluff Library will be closed.
Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Public Schools: Closed for winter break through Jan. 6.
Park Districts: The Lake Bluff Park District building will close at noon on Dec. 24 and remain closed Dec. 25. The Lake Forest Recreation Department will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
Gorton Community Center: The drop-in learning center will be closed until Jan. 6 for winter break.
Grocery stores: Most will be closed Christmas Day, some will be open and many will have adjusted hours.
