Christmas 2020 Grocery Store Hours: Sunset Foods, Heinen's

LAKE FOREST, IL — Christmas is likely to look different this year as millions of Americans opt to stay home, marking the holiday with smaller celebrations amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Smaller celebrations, however, don’t necessarily mean we’ll bypass holiday traditions. And when it comes to Christmas dinner, a pandemic is certainly unlikely to stop us from forgetting that one key ingredient needed to make a perfect holiday meal.

Have no fear — there are some grocery stores that will be open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for those emergency and last-minute shopping trips from Lake Forest and Lake Bluff. Due to COVID-19, most retailers have delivery or curbside pickup options.

Here are the hours for grocery stores that will be open around town, along with a list of those that won’t:

ALDI: Stores will be open Christmas Eve, but hours will vary by location; closed on Christmas Day.

• 1050 S. Waukegan Road, Waukegan

Costco: Most stores will be open limited hours Christmas Eve, and all stores will be closed Christmas Day. Call ahead to confirm hours with your local store.

• 25901 Riverwoods Road, Mettawa

CVS: Most locations are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Christmas Day.

• 975 Rockland Road, Lake Bluff
• 520 N. Western Ave., Lake Forest

The Fresh Market: Stores will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve. All stores are closed Christmas Day.

• 850 N. Western Ave., Lake Forest

Foodstuffs: Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Closed Christmas Day.

• 255 E. Westminster Ave., Lake Forest

The Grand Food Center: Open from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Christmas Eve, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Christmas Day and from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Boxing Day

• 606 Green Bay Road, Winnetka
• 341 Hazel Ave., Glencoe

Jewel-Osco: All locations close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve; last home delivery/curbside pickup 3 p.m. Closed Christmas Day.

• 890 N. Western Ave., Lake Forest

Heinen's: Closing at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Closed Christmas Day.

• 201 Waukegan Road, Lake Bluff

Mariano's: All stores will close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and remain closed Christmas Day.

• 784 Skokie Blvd., Northbrook

Sam’s Club: Stores will be open until 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and closed Christmas Day.

• 335 N. Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills

Sunset Foods: Stores will be open until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day.

• 825 S. Waukegan Road, Lake Forest

Target: Most stores will close at 8 p.m. Christmas Eve. All stores are closed Christmas Day.

• 975 Rockland Road, Lake Bluff

Trader Joe’s: All stores will close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve. Stores are closed Christmas Day.

• 1600 S. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville

Walgreens: Selected locations are open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Christmas Day. Call ahead to confirm hours with your local store.

Whole Foods: Most stores will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Christmas Eve. All stores are closed Christmas Day.
