The Community Forums are designed to give residents an informal opportunity to:

- Get involved in complex community issues
- Stimulate intellect, curiosity and civil debate
- Gather a greater awareness of the challenges and opportunities facing Lake Forest
Discussion will be led by an Alderman on a topic identified in the recently-adopted Strategic Plan for 2013-2018.
On Thursday, April 18, George Pandaleon, Second Ward Alderman, will lead a conversation about “Differentiated Housing Opportunities.” Over the past few decades, different types of housing have been constructed in Lake Forest, including large single family homes, smaller lot single family homes, condominiums in the Central Business District and near Conway Farms, town houses, duplexes, row houses, “zero maintenance” single family homes, and senior housing cottages on Conway Road and at Lake Forest Place. Over time, the price points of housing units have trended higher in Lake Forest limiting the availability of housing at moderate and lower price points. Although there is some rental housing available, it is limited.

Each month, a new topic will be thoroughly explored. These meetings will not be televised, and no decisions will be made. The purpose is to collectively develop an enhanced clarity of each issue, its intricacies, and a consensus on how to proceed.
