Dispose of Chemical Waste in Lake Forest

The City of Lake Forest will hold a household chemical waste collection Sept. 28.

If you have chemical waste that can’t just be tossed in the garbage, you can soon dispose of it in Lake Forest.

The city will hold a household chemical waste collection from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at the municipal services center, 800 N. Field Drive.

Accepted materials will include aerosol products, antifreeze, motor oil, fertilizer, herbicide, pesticide, fluorescent light bulbs/CFLs, furniture stripper, varnish, gasoline, kerosene, lithium and rechargeable batteries, household cleaners, oil-based paints and paint removers prescription and over-the-counter medications for humans and pets.

Unaccepted items include latex paint, DEA controlled substances, business waste, farm chemicals, propane tanks, lead-acid and alkaline batteries, explosives, medical waste, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and electronics.
