First-Ever Adoption Event, Annual Dog Day Coming To Lake Forest
A pair of pet-focused festivities are planned this June at the Gorton Community Center.

LAKE FOREST, IL — The Gorton Community Center is hosting a pair of pet-focused family events in June, including an annual affair and a new partnership. First up, the center is partnering with PAWS Chicago, the region's leading no-kill animal shelter, to organize a day of pet adoption and other activities. Then later in the month, Gorton will host another edition of its yearly canine-focused festivities.
Gorton's inaugural Adoption Day will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on June 10. For the first time, the center is partnering with PAWS Chicago, the area's leading no-kill animal shelter, to bring animals in need of safe homes.
There will be adoption papers available on site to allow for instant processing of new pets. Plus, there will be fun family-friendly events for those not interested in adopting a pet on the day, including face painting and other activities at a kids corner. Local singer-songwriter Ali Jackson will perform live music.
