Historic Commission Asks Lake Bluff Village Board to Landmark Blair House

Request means famed Sheridan Road home won't be demolished until at least next month.

The Lake Bluff Historic Preservation Commission unanimously voted Wednesday to recommend the Blair House be landmarked by the village.

The Blair House, at 925 Sheridan Road, was built by noted architectural firm Keck & Keck for Edward McCormick Blair - the son of the founder of the Chicago investment firm William Blair & Company.

According to the Daily North Shore, the Commission’s recommendation to the Village Board ensures demolition on the structure will be held off until at least the next village meeting, set in April.
