Hughes Estate Will be Open to Public

The Late John Hughes Estate will be the host of the 16th biennial Lake Forest Showhouse and Gardens, a daily tour to be held from April 25 through May 17 this year.

According to the Gardens’ website, “the exceptional craftsmanship, superior materials and attention to detail are evident throughout the entire estate. This estate includes 7 bedrooms, 6 full bathrooms, a handsome library, elegant dining room and living room, garden room, huge family room, media room, an interchangeable office suite and 3 car garage. Additional features include original millwork, 6 fireplaces, a swimming pool, bluestone terraces and beautiful professionally landscaped grounds.”

The estate, located within the historic district of east Lake Forest and originally designed by architect Edwin Hill Clark, will “undergo a detailed makeover” before the tour opens, according to Design & Trend.

A kitchen redesign, bathroom renovations and restoration of the grounds will be included in the remodel.
