Lake Bluff Elementary Eco Club to Celebrate Earth Day
The Lake Bluff Elementary School Eco Club will host an Eco Night Open House on Earth Day, Monday, April 22 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The Lake Bluff Elementary School Eco Club will host an Eco Night Open House on Earth Day, Monday, April 22 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
A variety of “green” activities are planned, including a Recycle Relay and sustainability talks by student experts on how shoes are re-used, creating a garden, and the difference between recycling and “upcycling.”

Eco-friendly crayons and reusable shopping bags will be available for purchase, and donations will be accepted for the planned Outdoor Learning Space.
The school’s student-run recycling center will be accepting drop-offs of worn gym shoes, cell phones, digital cameras, inkjet and laser toners, mp3 players, game consoles and graphing calculators.

There has been a focus on sustainability at the school since it opened in 2009. The building itself was designed and constructed with input from resident and parent members of the Lake Bluff Green Team, and emphasized environmentally sustainable materials, superior air quality and energy efficiency. It was granted Silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
