Lake Bluff Home With Civil War Ties in Jeopardy

Commission could decide on fate of Center St. residence in April.

A Lake Bluff home built by a decorated Civil War colonel could be history soon if developers interested in buying the house get their wish.

The family who resides at 400 E. Center St. recently moved to California and a builder approached them about purchasing the home only to tear down and subdivide into two residences, a realtor told the Lake Forester.

The home was built by James A. Sexton, who in addition to serving as a Colonel was the postmaster of Chicago.

The Lake Bluff Historic Preservation Commission is expected to decide in April whether to allow developers to move on with their plans.
