Lake Forest, Lake Bluff Residents Wanted for New Task Force

The City of Lake Forest is teaming with the Lake Buff Park District to explore ways in which the two entities can serve the community more efficiently.

The two governing bodies have formed a joint task force composed of officials and residents who will look into opportunities related to capital, land use and shared services regarding parks and recreation.

The group might conclude that nothing more can be done, said Lake Forest Mayor Don Schoenheider. Or, he said, “We may find out there are opportunities to do things more efficiently.”

The idea for the task force stemmed from conversations Schoenheider and Lake Bluff Park Board President Kevin Considine had with city and park staff over the summer to discuss the challenges in each community for addressing future parks and recreation capital needs and services.

Priorities outlined in the communities’ strategic plans to maintain and enhance resident services with a continued focus on fiscal stewardship will also be supported by the task force.

The task force, which will meet monthly, will be made up of four appointees from both the city and the park district. At least half of the members will come from the community at large, while the others will be elected officials.

Residents interested in serving on the joint task force can apply by submitting a volunteer profile form on the city or park district’s website by Sept. 30 Appointees will be named in October.
