Lake Forest Library donates a personalized storytime to Spirit of 67 Foundation auction

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – January 2, 2019 – The Spirit of 67 Foundation is a not-for-profit, parent-run volunteer organization that raises funds and acquires resources to enrich and enhance the educational and cultural experiences of students, faculty, parents, and staff of Lake Forest School District 67.
Lake Forest Library donated a personalized storytime to this year's Thanks 4 Giving Appreciation Luncheon auction held on October 19, 2018. The Hanson Family was the winner, and daughter Caroline (who is in first grade) got to select the storytime theme (she chose books by Jan Brett) and invite her friends to her special storytime at Lake Forest Library on January 2, 2019.
Caroline's storytime featured the books Gingerbread Friends and Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett. The storytime also incorporated activities and art projects including:

- Using props to act out The Mitten by Jan Brett
- Having a pretend snowball fight with pillow stuffing while playing the song Let's Play in the Snow by Rachel Buchanan
- Coloring bookmarks and decorating gingerbread cookies
Lake Forest Library was encouraged by the success of the personalized storytime and looks forward to developing other innovative ways of engaging with patrons and supporting the community.
