Lake Forest to Lose Another 1,700 Trees to Emerald Ash Borer
The city is encouraging residents to replace the lost trees with native species.

Lake Forest plans to remove 1,700 trees from the city because of the emerald ash borer infestation, which first appeared in the community five years ago, according to an article in TribLocal.
The city is injecting ash trees with an insecticide to try to protect them and replacing some of the felled trees with new ash trees, and is also encouraging residents to plant native species, the article says. There will be a subsidized sale of replacement trees at Melody Nature Preserve Oct. 18
