Man Pulled Over for DUI Tries to Switch Places with Passenger, Police Say

He was also currently driving with a license that had been suspended for a previous DUI, police say.

Driving on a suspended license

Tiffany L. Glover, 33, of the 7200 block of South Yates in Chicago, was pulled over for a traffic violation at 1 a.m. Sept. 8 at Route 41 and Westleigh and arrested for driving with a suspended license. She was released on $1,500 with an Oct. 21 court date.

Enrique Hernandez, 30, of the 5800 block of Creekview in Portage, IN, was pulled over for a traffic violation at 10:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at Route 41 and Gage Lane and arrested for driving with a suspended license. He was released on $1,500 bond with an Oct. 21 court date.

An officer saw a car swerve across lane markings several times at 3:30 a.m. Sept. 1 at Route 41 and Westleigh. Driver Josue Garcia-Lopez, 28, of the 300 block of Green Bay Road in Highwood, was pulled over and police said he attempted to switch places with a female passenger as the officer walked toward his car. He also had an open can of beer in the car and the officer learned he was driving on a suspended license for a previous DUI.

He failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. He was charged with felony DUI, as well as cited for improper lane usage, illegal transportation of alcohol, and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was taken to Lake County Jail for a bond hearing.

Theft

Ignacio Alvarez, 28, was arrested Sept. 9 for a theft that occurred June 7 when police had responded to a business in the 500 block of North Western Avenue for a report of a stolen cell phone.

Surveillance video showed Alvarez stealing the phone, police said. He initially agreed to meet with police about the theft but then didn’t appear and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was released on $10,000 bond with a Sept. 25 court date.
