New Bears Head Coach John Fox Buys Home From Tom Waddle

John Fox paid more than $3 million for the home on Onwentsia Road.

When former Chicago Bears wide receiver and current WMVP-AM 1000 host Tom Waddle sold his Lake Forest home on Onwentsia Road in favor of a slightly smaller mansion is the southern section of the city earlier this month, it turns out he was creating an opening for the man now at the coaching helm of his former team.

New Bears head coach John Fox was the buyer who paid $3.275 million for the six-bedroom, 8,161-square-foot mansion, the Chicago Tribune reports. Waddle had owned the home on a 1.8-acre parcel for five years.

Fox, who became the Bears head coach in January following an unexpected parting of the ways with the Denver Broncos, will move into the 2008-built home that features a first-floor master suite, coffered ceilings, a butler’s pantry, exercise room and home theater.

An expansive backyard is included.

If Fox plans on outlasting Waddle’s run of five years at the residence, he will have to perform better than Marc Trestman, his predecessor who was fired by the Bears after two disappointing seasons.
