Priciest Listing In Suburbs Is Lakefront Estate Of Financial Exec

Set on 13 acres on Crab Tree Farms, the 25-year-old Italian-style mansion has a vineyard and almost 700 feet of private beach.

LAKE BLUFF, IL — A lakefront mansion on more than 12 acres formerly part of Crab Tree Farm has hit the market for the first time Monday with the highest price tag of any suburban real estate listing. Situated on a private lane, the two-storey limestone Italian-style mansion consists of nearly 10,000 square feet of living space.

Inside, the 17-room house has five bedrooms, six full and two half bathrooms, a custom kitchen, a grand staircase, a finished basement, an office, library, stately millwork and Doric columns in its master suite.

Outside, it features an outdoor pool, a custom vineyard and steps down to nearly 700 feet of private Lake Michigan shoreline with a private deck. Built in 1994, it was construced "with commercial grade infrastructure and has been meticulously maintained," according to its listing.

The home is being offered for sale by Lisa Zenni and her husband James, the founder of Lake Forest-based Z Capital Group, according to Crain's Chicago Business.

Mr. Zenni, 63, is the chairman of the board Mrs. Field's parent company and several gambling firms, among other endevours.

The most expensive Lake Forest or Lake Bluff home sale of the last decade was a $12 million purchase of a home on Mayflower Road in Lake Forest. It was purchased by a Delaware-based trust in July. Crain's reported the Lake Bluff record is the $9.8 million purchase of 25-acre site of the the former Arden Shores, which was sold in 2005.

The Crab Tree Lane home's asking price eclipses the $15 million pricetag on the "Wyldwoode" estate, also on Mayflower Road, as the area's higest. The next most expensive listing in Lake Bluff is the David Adler-designed landmark built for an heir to the Armour meatpacking fortune and later purchased by Richard Marx and his ex-wife for $4.7 million and initially listed it at $18 million. It is now asking for $9 million.


The estimated market value of the property is is $6.1 million and its annual property tax bill is $132,000, according to the Lake County Assessor's Office.

Lake County public records indicate the land was last sold in June 1992 for $2.2 million, prior to the construction of the Zennis' home.
