Resident Scares Off Trespassers

ANIMALS
A resident of the 300 block of Belle Forest Drive reported finding a stray cat at 1:10 p.m. Nov. 4. An officer transported the gray, female cat to Knollwood Animal Hospital.
Police received a report of a stray dog at 2:24 p.m. Oct. 23 on the 1-100 block of East Washington Avenue. The husky was taken to Knollwood Animal Hospital.

CITIZEN ASSISTÂ
Police responded to a report of a babysitter who had locked her keys and the child she was watching inside her car at 11:05 a.m. Nov. 2 on the 200 block of South Waukegan Road. Police gained entry to the vehicle and confirmed that the child appeared to be fine. The child’s mother was notified by phone.

GAS LEAK
An officer responded to a report of an odor of natural gas at 2:41 p.m. Nov. 3 on the 200 block of South Waukegan Road. Firefighters also responded and determined there was a gas leak coming from the roof heating units at Dominick’s. Firefighters turned off the gas line and notified the gas company to repair the leak.
SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
Police received a report of two people going into backyards of residences at 10:10 a.m. Oct. 25 on the 700 block of Rockland Avenue. They were last seen leaving the area in a Toyota Highlander. Officers were told the two had been looking into the window of a garage, and were scared off by the homeowner. Officers did not locate them.
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE
An officer located a suspicious vehicle at 12:50 a.m. Oct. 23 on the 500 block of Rockland Avenue and saw a person exit the vehicle and run across the street. The officer stopped the person, who said he was geocaching.
