Restoration Underway at McCormick Ravine
Lake Forest Open Lands project to cost $3.5 million and take five years.

LAKE FOREST, IL - Plans for a restoration project at the McCormick Ravine Nature Preserve are underway as certain trees have already been marked for removal.

The Lake Forest Open Lands Association is paying for 35 percent of the $3.5 million ecological project at the site they will own once completed in five years, according to the Lake Forester.
This year, plans include removing large trees, replacing storm sewer pipes and replacing the dam with stone step pools and structures. Beginning next year, new trees will be planted and trails will be repaired. A new bridge is also expected to take shape before the completion of the project.
The federal government will pay 65 percent of the cost.
